The Bulldogs Football Association is a non-profit organization formed in 2007 to support the Bulldogs tackle football programs. Originally founded in 1978 the Bulldogs played exclusively in the Calgary Bantam Football Association. “We believe there are three thing that come before football – Family, School, Religion.”
The Bulldogs Football Association is open to all children from 8 – 18 that reside in the Southwest part of Calgary, with approximately 180 to 200 young men and women going through the Bulldog Football association annually . The Atom, Peewee and Bantam teams are selected after an evaluation training camp that begins in June, running through into July.
The selected teams will play their regular season games August through October, with playoffs running into November.
The purpose of this program is to teach and develop the fundamentals of tackle football at increasing levels of competition; to allow every child a chance to play and perform, and to provide a memorable, meaningful and rewarding experience for all participants.
This program offers young athletes the opportunity to participate in an exciting team sport that develops:
- Self Confidence
- Respect for others
- Commitment & Dedication
- Physical Ability
- New friendships
The team philosophy stresses the importance of fundamental skill development, preparation and hard work within a framework of organization and discipline. We require commitment and respect from the players and in return we assure them an atmosphere of excellence, competitiveness and fun. We also believe that there are areas in a player’s life that are more important than sports and football. So we will always defer to family, school and religion.
Today the Bulldogs Football Association support four levels of football within the Calgary tackle football leagues:
- Atom – for players ages 8 – 10
- Pee Wee – for players ages 11 – 12
- Bantam – for players ages 13 – 15
- Spring – for players going in to Grades 9 – 11
The Bulldog Football Association is a member in good standing with:
- Football Canada
- Football Alberta
- Calgary & Area Atom Football Association
- Calgary & Area Pee-Wee Football Association
- Calgary Bantam Football Association
- Calgary & Area SPring Football Association
- Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association
